"We wanted to build an ADU for my parents so they could move in and be closer to us. We wanted a house that was safe for them to live independently but at the same time they would actually want to live there full time. The main house on our property is not suitable to live in long term 2 story with a ton of stairs and we wanted to be able to rent it out so having an accessory unit in our back yard was the perfect solution. We hired Sacramento ADU Builders to do the work and Mike was our main point of contact. Right from our first meeting with Mike, it was clear he was taking a very functional approach to designing our new home. We talked at length about accessibility, traffic routes through the house, room layouts and how we intended to use our new home. He listened attentively to what we said and produced a single storey design that not only met our needs but also was incredibly attractive. Zero-threshold entry no steps or raised door sills Wider doorways and hallways for easy movement Roll-in shower with a built-in bench Structural walls with integrated grab bars not the typical medical type Open layout between living, kitchen, and sleeping areas Dedicated storage and a small workspace They took into consideration the lighting, ventilation and space planning aspects in order to ensure that the area would not feel cluttered. New converted garage space My new converted garage space took approximately 7 months to complete from when we first received the building permit to when we were able to start construction and by the time we were finished, and this was with some changes and additions that the HOA required us to make, and the company kept us updated on the status of the work being performed and would contact us if any changes were required. Very professional and all construction materials were cleaned up every day. A few months ago our brand new Accessible Dwelling Unit ADU was complete and my parents have been enjoying their new to them home for a couple months now. So I was hoping to get a better understanding of how it is truly meeting their needs. The goal of an ADU is to provide a comfortable place to call home with the least amount of difficulty. The basic necessities should be within easy reach. And it should feel like home, not like a guest house. Overall, we were very pleased with the service from Sacramento ADU Builders. They were able to clearly interpret and carry out our objectives and wishes. They proved to be very sensitive to our priorities and were able to create a useful ADU that was soundly constructed."

"My grandmother lives in Arizona now. My parents used to live there with her but all of their extended family members have moved to the north too. My mom has been on my grandmother to move here to be closer to the family. Last fall she finally agreed but she has had a ton of fear regarding coming here. She didn't want to be in our home and said we would all be resentful of her being here. She also was worried she would be a huge bother to us all and there was more. We built an ADU in our backyard in Elk Grove with the amazing company Sacramento ADU Builder. Our project manager was Anya and she had a meeting with my grandma to discuss the plans for her new ADU. They spoke on Zoom for about an hour and Anaya asked her grandma a ton of questions about what she wanted in her home. Her grandmother said that she wanted a full kitchen because she has been cooking for 60 years and shes not done yet. She also wanted to have a garden space even if it was just small. Anya made that all possible. The kitchen is small but actually very useable. There is also a tiny patio out. Separate entry, separate living, separate laundry, etc. It took about 6 months to build it. My grandmother moved in 2 months ago. So far she and our neighbor have become fast friends so thats worked out really well. So far so good. This ADU has given us more time with a loved one and this is truly priceless."

"So last year I became a homeowner. I bought my very first house in Sacramento and it is a little bungalow in the Tahoe Park neighborhood. It's very adorable with a small front porch. I have to say the backyard was a little tough to picture, until we converted the detached garage in the back into an ADU with Sacramento ADU Builder Team. Our project manager was David. He sat with me and told me what needed to be done, all the permits required, how long it would take, and what the costs would be. Again, David did a great job of communicating in such a way that even though I was clueless I never felt talked down to. It took about 4 months to do the conversion. They had some issues dealing with the city inspection but David handled that. Other than going to the city inspections and writing checks everything was handled. I now have a new tenant! A grad student and hes paying 1400 which covers most of the mortgage payment. Im living in the main house and hes in the back house with the second living space off the driveway and the drive is shared with the front house. Its a good unit. Its quite small but its nice. The kitchen, bathroom and lighting have all been renovated which is a nice touch. My tenant seems very happy with it. Hes quite a quiet fella, always pays on time and hasnt created an ounce of trouble. Its way too expensive for someone my age to purchase a home. Looking into areas where you can do an addition and turn one home into two and Sacramento ADU Builders did great job!"

"My siblings and I inherited our family home in Sacramento from our parents. There was some debate about what we would do with it, but the consensus became building an accessory dwelling unit to rent out and keep the family home available for our use. We chose Sacramento ADU Builders to build our ADU and had Anna as our point of contact. She did a great job of outlining who had to sign off on what and who needed to be involved in major decisions. Andrew was the project lead for this section. He managed the work with a single point of contact and a simple voting mechanism for low level design choices. The meetings to discuss the high level design were very focused and to the point so that no lengthy negotiation occurred. At one point we just couldnt seem to agree on what the flooring should be so he brought over some samples and organised a very quick poll. Problem solved. Thans to him for her organization and professionalism. From our first meeting to the completion of our ADU he was the best to work with, even though there were many family members that had strong opinions, and he handled them all with ease. We are thrilled with our new ADU and loving the additional income it has brought in to our household. We are still speaking to each other too!"

"Im a single mom, live in Sacramento and Ive been here about 15 years. Everythings so darn expensive now and housing costs just keep getting out of control. I rented out the detached garage to try to offset costs, but it was just a junk storage area for our entire family and rarely ever rented, and made a mess of our back yard. A coworker actually recommended Sacramento ADU Builder and suggested looking into turning the garage into a tiny house. So I met with Mike a guy from a construction company and he came out and had a look at the garage. I explained what I wanted which was rental income. He then went through what could be done, the cost, length of time it would take etc. He didn't really try to sell me on anything but was relatively straight forward. It took about 4 months all together. About 3 weeks of that was waiting for the permit from the city, but Mike was very good at letting me know what was going on. The workers were very respectful of our property. They cleaned up"
