2025-12-11"This firm is unprofessional and does poor quality work. If you use this contractor they will use untrained workers, fail to provide adequate tools and supplies, provide no supervision or communication, do sloppy work, refuse to fix it and then when the work fails two years later they will say the warranty has expired and invite you to sue them to address the issue. Working with this firm was a complete nightmare that will not end.
We hired Ingenuity to install custom windows. After the job was completed it was supposed to take two weeks but lasted seven months we learned they didn't have experience doing that kind of work so just learned on the job. They made many mistakes along the way and we are unfortunately still dealing with the consequences. The workers measured and ordered the custom windows but the windows didn't fit when they arrived. The workers then used a saw on the floor of our garage without proper equipment and shaved and cut the windows to fit but because they didn't have the right equipment the cuts were not straight. So the window frames ended up bowed. In addition, the installed windows had huge gaps around them and to this day are drafty and even let water come in if there is heavy rain. The workers scratched and broke almost every glass pane and the windows had to be removed on multiple occasions and go back to the factory for glass replacement. This took multiple trips because the workers measured the glass incorrectly when they ordered replacements so when the windows went back to the factory the new double paned window boxes didn't fit and they had to return the broken windows and remeasure and try again. This happened more than once so they made the same mistake repeatedly. Edgar complains about all the "extra work and transportation" they did on the job but it was to replace glass they damaged!
The painting work was terrible- they painted over chips and sawdust without doing any prep work or sanding and had to redo the work multiple times. One week after outdoor painting on new windows it started to peel! They failed to use protective barriers and drop cloths even though I explained there may be lead paint present. After repeated requests they cleaned up all the paint chips- and dumped them in our city compost bin!
Now the windows are rotting and we have learned that it is because they didn't properly seal and paint them. The paint should overlap the glass by 18 of an inch and the workers didn't do that despite repeated conversations where we stressed how important this is. Now we are stuck with expensive custom windows that are falling apart TWO YEARS after we purchased and installed them. Ingenuity has refused to work with us to repair the issue and invited us to just sue them. So if you want this kind of experience then you should hire Ingenuity. If you do not look elsewhere.
If you look on yelp reviews you will see the same people Silicon Valley Iron Works. While that seems to be their area of expertise so they have successfully completed some jobs there are also very negative reviews from unhappy customers who had a similarly bad experience with this company. Do your due diligence before you hire them."
