ADU Boost Pilot Program for Midcoast Maine Homeowners
Homeowners in Brunswick, Bath, and Rockland may now have access to financial support for accessory dwelling unit projects through the ADU Boost Pilot Program. This initiative was launched by the Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) in partnership with Bangor Savings Bank, and is designed to help eligible residents offset the costs of building an ADU.
Through the program, qualifying homeowners can access the following benefits:
- Fixed-rate financing, available with or without refinancing an existing mortgage
- Up to $10,000 in grant funding, representing 10% of qualified project costs
- Start-to-finish support from third-party specialists, including cost reviews and inspections
To be eligible, projects must meet specific criteria. These include a minimum project cost of $50,000 and a commitment to long-term rental use — short-term rentals do not qualify. Income limits also apply to participants. Grant funds are limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested homeowners are encouraged to explore the program early.
