"I met Matt O'Brien some time ago on a job as I am a contractor myself. At first I hired him to handle the carpentry work for my customers - to rave reviews. Then my wife and I hired him to do the first room remodel in our home. We wanted an 18th century look. We gave him the jist of what we wanted and Matt did all the design work. Custom milling all of our woodwork from raised panels on our walls, beaded and back banded casings to gorgeous beams on our ceiling. From that point, year by year, room by room, we stayed with O'Brien Wood and Iron. The master bedroom was the biggest project - cutting 2 huge holes in our roof for dormers. Wide planked flooring - hand nailed and gorgeous built ins for our clothing. Again - perfection. In closing, all I can say is he is one of the finest carpenters to work with and I've been in the business for 40 years. Honest, hard working, very intelligent and knows his craft. "We had a sliding door and a small deck installed. Their work was meticulous, both structurally and aesthetically. They are especially adept at preserving and restoring older homes and worked with us in finding the best way to get the look and feel we wanted. The timing of some of the work overlapped with landscaping we were having done and they coordinated well with the landscapers. More verification: Our neighbor who is a contractor was very impressed with their work and the city said the permit application they submitted was among the most detailed they'd seen. Very highly recommended."
