About Skyline Homes

Accessory Dwelling Units from Skyline Homes

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are secondary housing units built on a single-family residential lot. Skyline Homes offers ADU solutions designed to provide additional living space for a range of purposes — from guest suites and home offices to rental units. Their prefab-style approach to ADU construction aims to integrate these structures smoothly into existing properties.

As an ADU builder, Skyline Homes brings a focus on modern design and energy efficiency to each project. Their units are built with options for Net Zero Ready installations, making sustainability a practical consideration alongside comfort and functionality.

Why Homeowners Consider an ADU

There are several practical reasons homeowners look into adding an accessory dwelling unit to their property:

  1. Affordable additional space: ADUs can be a more cost-effective alternative to traditional home additions or extensions.
  2. Income potential: A detached ADU or backyard cottage can be rented out to generate supplemental income.
  3. Versatility: Whether used as a studio, home office, or guest accommodation, ADUs can serve a variety of needs over time.

One of the more significant uses of an ADU is supporting multigenerational living. As more families look to house aging parents or adult children on the same property, the demand for well-designed in-law suite and granny flat solutions has grown. ADUs offer a way to keep family members close while still providing a degree of independence and privacy.

When designing an ADU for multigenerational use, certain features become especially relevant:

  1. Accessibility: Single-level layouts and features like walk-in showers make these units more suitable for seniors.
  2. Independence: Separate entrances and dedicated kitchen areas give occupants their own functional space.
  3. Proximity: Being on the same lot allows for closer family connection without sacrificing personal space.

What to Consider When Choosing an ADU Builder

Selecting the right ADU contractor involves evaluating a few key factors. Material quality and construction standards matter, as does the range of customization options available. Skyline Homes is noted for their prefab home expertise and offers design flexibility, including smart home integrations and modern finishes, to suit different homeowner preferences.

Their ADUs can function as a detached ADU, a Casita, or an attached unit depending on the property layout and local regulations. This range of configurations makes them a relevant option for homeowners exploring different types of accessory dwelling unit builds.

Skyline Homes positions itself as a manufacturer with experience in both design and energy-efficient construction. For homeowners considering an ADU — whether as a garage conversion, a new detached structure, or a compact JADU — understanding what a builder offers in terms of customization, sustainability, and build quality is an important part of the decision-making process.

"If I could give zero stars, I would. Water started leaking through our rear door not long after we bought the house. They fixed it, but a year later the same issue came back and water also started coming in through the front door. The wood framing had been soaking up water the entire time and is now rotted. This house is barely 3 years old. When I called for help, I got no apology and no accountability, just a rude service agent who acted like it was my fault for not catching it sooner. A local contractor told me they are constantly fixing issues from this company due to poor workmanship. Horrible experience. Avoid this company."

"ok I bought this used 2018 home BUT i didnt think there was going to be problems., I had called customer service because i was going to buy a new toilet and noticed the one in the 2nd bathroom was the wrong one. It needed a different size because it is 2 inches away from the wall. and when i talked to my Plummer he told me it needed the one that fits closer to the wall because if you sit and lean back you can break the tank This was a safety issue and they said how do they know i didnt change it out, and i had no warranty, Be sure if it breaks and my back gets cut they will pay more than the home sold for.. Both bathrooms have the same toilets. Next i went to paint some walls and have already repaired 3 other rooms. This is how they install drywall. They dont put the mud on 1st to hold the side of the drywall together, They put tape over the wall and added a 18 inch filler over the top. Well it cracks, The tape has nothing to bond to, I will have a big issue when i go to paint the celling because there are 2 cracks where they put both halves together on a textured finish. This is pure hacks who built this. VERY SAD WORKMANSHIP"

"We recently bought the Desire by Champion homes and we love it! The home is beautiful and we had lots of options to make it perfect for us. The customer service has been great. Ive called a few times over minor issues and Whitney and Jeanine were both great at solving our issues quickly. Also, the contractor, Matt, who came out to do the initial trim out and then again to fix minor issues was phenomenal! We have had the very best experience with Champion and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new home."

"It's been over six months waiting for repairs and things to get fixed on our new home got the go arounds for the first 3 months now the excuse is they had our info wrong in the system when they tried reaching out but yet didn't try thru any other source except one telephone number on file but yet has been contacting me thru email and phone the amount of excuses I have gotten from this place is unreal I don't recommend buying a home from this place I do recommend Clayton homes wish I would have went that route and maybe the safety issues my home has, since moved in due to placement would be resolved by now but yet champion homes still take our mortgage like it's not big deal without resolving anything."
