"Top-notch collaborative design and construction effort. Loved it! My wife and I recently completed a significant renovation of our 1990s home in Portland's Overlook neighborhood, a 5,000 sq ft project with river views, and I cannot recommend TaylorSmith Sustainable Construction TSSC highly enough. We interviewed every major contractor in Portland before selecting TSSC, and it was absolutely the right choice. While they were great on paper and interpersonally, TSSC's standardized weekly reporting format was a game-changer that set them above other Contractors. We knew they'd be keeping us fully informed and confident throughout the entire process. We were probably the clients from hell and had a long list of questions for them every week, because we didn't understand almost anything about building science, home performance, materials, etc. We envisioned a complete down-to-the-studs transformation, bringing a modern, Japandi aesthetic to our home. TSSC not only met but exceeded our expectations. They masterfully executed the design, showcasing their versatility. While they clearly excel at modern renovations, we felt confident they could handle any style, even a traditional Portland home. Beyond their exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, TSSC really distinguished themselves with their communication and responsiveness. Our project came in exactly on budget, a feat in itself for a project of this scale. They were hyper-communicative, always available to answer our questions and address any concerns. Our site foreperson, Brooks, deserves special recognition. My wife and I both have strong opinions, and Brooks expertly navigated our sometimes conflicting preferences. His accurate, timely information and thoughtful guidance were invaluable, helping us make informed decisions and, frankly, saving our marriage more than once! This project presented unique challenges: When we encountered difficulties with our designer regarding some complex live-plant features within the house, TSSC stepped up and provided the expertise we needed to get the details right. They were also instrumental in optimizing our mechanical systems, ensuring we didn't oversize and waste resources. TSSCs collaborative approach was evident in every stage of the project. They listened to our vision, offered insightful suggestions, and worked with us every step of the way. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, we are now living in our dream home.
