The Team Behind Southerly Homes
Southerly Homes was co-founded by Nick Quijano and Josh Yates, both native Texans with over 20 years of experience each in residential construction and real estate.
Nick Quijano began his career as a Superintendent for one of the nation's largest private homebuilders before moving into senior leadership, land acquisition, and urban redevelopment. He holds a Texas Real Estate License and has worked across high-end custom homes, luxury speculative builds, urban infill, ADUs, duplexes, and condominium projects. Nick currently serves as a Board Member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin and as Chairman of the Custom Builders & Remodelers Council. He also serves as Treasurer of the Austin Infill Coalition. Under his leadership, Southerly Homes has received multiple industry recognitions, including Custom Builder of the Year and several MAX Awards through the Home Builders Association.
Josh Yates began his career in 2005 as a Sales Consultant and earned his Texas Real Estate License in 2006, becoming a licensed Broker in 2012. He has experience spanning production building, custom construction, and complex infill development, including master-planned neighborhoods and high-density urban projects. Today, Josh leads construction operations, field execution, and community development strategy for the company.
Together, the co-founders bring a combination of large-company experience and a hands-on, client-focused approach. Their stated mission is to design and build quality homes while delivering a straightforward, well-managed experience — with an emphasis on transparency, communication, and craftsmanship throughout the process.
