About EcoStar Remodeling & Construction

ADU Services by EcoStar Remodeling & Construction

EcoStar Remodeling & Construction works with homeowners to bring ADU design ideas to life. As an experienced ADU contractor serving the Los Angeles area, they help clients navigate the different types of accessory dwelling units available and determine which option best suits their property and goals.

When it comes to ADUs, there are three primary categories to consider. Within each category, there are various methods for incorporating an accessory dwelling unit into an existing property.

Interior ADUs exist within the primary living structure. In many cases, this involves converting an existing room or underutilized space — such as a basement, attic, loft, or garage. A garage conversion is a popular choice among homeowners, largely because it can help reduce overall construction costs compared to building a detached structure from scratch.

An interior ADU may also qualify as a Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU), provided it meets specific regulatory requirements. JADUs are typically smaller units contained entirely within the walls of the existing home. EcoStar Remodeling & Construction can help homeowners understand whether their planned space qualifies as a JADU and what steps are needed to meet local code requirements.

One practical advantage of interior ADUs is that they do not always require dedicated systems of their own. Features such as a separate bathroom, kitchen, HVAC system, plumbing, and electrical can often be shared with the primary living structure, which can simplify the build and reduce costs.

Foundation Services in Los Angeles

Beyond ADU construction, EcoStar Remodeling & Construction also provides foundation services for residential properties throughout Los Angeles. A home's foundation is a critical structural component — it supports the entire building and helps protect it from settling, water intrusion, and long-term structural damage.

Los Angeles presents specific challenges when it comes to foundations. Shifting soils and seismic activity make it important to work with a contractor who understands local conditions and complies with California's building codes. EcoStar Remodeling & Construction's team handles foundation work for new construction, remodeling projects, and older homes in need of reinforcement.

Their foundation services cover a range of needs, including:

  1. Slab-on-Grade Foundations — A solid concrete slab poured at ground level, commonly used in new construction on flat lots.
  2. Raised Foundations (Crawl Space) — A perimeter wall and internal supports that elevate the structure, allowing access to plumbing and electrical systems.
  3. Pier and Beam Foundations — Concrete piers and beams used to support structures on sloped lots or properties with unstable soil.
  4. Basement Foundations — Less common in Los Angeles, but available for properties where additional below-grade space is desired.
  5. Seismic Retrofit Foundations — Reinforcement of existing foundations using steel anchors, bolts, and shear panels to improve earthquake resistance.

Each foundation type serves different structural needs and site conditions. EcoStar Remodeling & Construction guides homeowners through the selection process to ensure the chosen approach aligns with safety requirements, soil conditions, and long-term durability goals.

Why Foundation Work Matters

A properly built or repaired foundation contributes to the overall stability, safety, and value of a home. In a seismically active region like Los Angeles, this is particularly relevant. Key reasons to invest in quality foundation work include:

  1. Structural Stability — Prevents settling, cracking, and uneven floors over time.
  2. Earthquake Resilience — Proper construction and retrofitting can reduce risk during seismic events.
  3. Moisture Protection — Helps guard against water intrusion and mold in aging or improperly built structures.
  4. Property Value — A sound foundation supports resale value and buyer confidence.
  5. Code Compliance — All foundation work must meet California's building and safety standards.

EcoStar Remodeling & Construction brings over a decade of experience in residential construction and remodeling throughout Los Angeles. Their team handles projects from initial assessment through to completion, covering inspections, structural work, and compliance with local regulations.

"They did a repair from a previous job on a roof. They promised it would be fixed. It worked for a bit and starting having leaks again. Called again and roofer came out took a look again said it could the gutter co. That installed had them come back out and they verified it was nothing that they did. The roofer Aaron is now not with the company anymore this is the 2nd one who we've dealt with is no longer with company. And we still can't get the company to call us back after several messages. Just got out money again and dont want to fix their work. Very frustrating getting a hold of someone or they say they will get back to us and dont. 1 out of 10 I give a 1 star."

"It was the worst contractor experience Ive ever had. The work was sloppy, the crew unskilled, and the entire process was a nightmare from start to finish. One electrician was so incompetent we had to ask him to leavehe kept cutting into our walls without reason and couldnt figure out how to wire a basic two-switch setup for an overhead light, despite wasting hours on it. He also brought his wife and kid, who just stood around in our kitchen while he worked. There was zero supervision. Contractors showed up latesometimes by an entire dayand a project that shouldve taken three weeks dragged on for three miserable months. They had no respect for our time, constantly made empty promises, and tried upselling us on more work before theyd even finished the job. We were promised custom cabinetry but got off-the-shelf kits from Lowes, with the custom build excuse used to justify delay after delay. When we asked for an itemized receipt, they flat-out refused. The lead contractor even told my girlfriend, I dont butt into your business, so dont butt into mine," when we asked for an itemized receipt of what we were being charged! They made unauthorized design changes, used the cheapest materials available, and their work started falling apart within days. Trim is coming off, flooring is lifting, and the countertops look like amateur hour. The quality is abysmal. By the end, we didnt want them fixing anythingwe were afraid theyd make it worse. Save yourself the stress. These guys will waste your time, your money, and your sanity. Karin and ari sold and supervised the job. Both were nice enough people, but karin should definitely stick to sales. She promised ALOT but failed to deliver on just about everything. We paid 60k for work that an amateur could do better."

"I had several remodeling projects - replacing the backyard fence, re-plastering and re-tiling the pool, and remodeling the master bathroom suite. I debated whether to coordinate independent vendors myself or hire a general contractor. In the end, I chose EcoStar Remodeling, and Im glad I did. EcoStar had the right credentials and reviews. Our first point of contact, Rubi, clearly outlined their services, reassured us on pricing, and made us feel confident in moving forward. From day one, their communication was outstanding - essential for a project of this scale. With multiple teams working daily and for several weeks, from concrete diggers, plumbers, electricians, tile and flooring contractors, to painters and city inspectors, EcoStar ensured we always knew what to expect. We were assigned a project manager, Eddie, and in my opinion, hes a rare find. He didnt just tell me he cared about our project anyone can say the words he showed us, from the day we met to the day the final project was complete. Eddie was at our house constantly, making sure everything was done right. He didnt just oversee the work, he inspected it with a meticulous eye. If something needed adjusting or reworking, he was on top of it immediately. Im going to miss Eddie - hes great at what he does, and its clear he treats every project like its his own. The work itself is top-notch. The fence looks fantastic, the pool remodel is beautiful, and the bathroom is stunning. A highlight of the bathroom was the custom vanity with vessel sinks and a quartz slab - an expensive piece that EcoStar flawlessly coordinated with the cabinet builder and slab provider. Ecostar also handled the ordering and installation of separately purchased items E.g. from Amazon, from the sinks to a smart bidet toilet, making the process seamless. My only critique is scope management, particularly in the bathroom remodel. For example, painting of walls, ceiling and woodwork was included, yet somehow, painting the interior doors wasnt, leaving us to do this ourselves, which feels inconsistent. My advice: clarify inclusions and exclusions upfront. That said, EcoStar was fair on pricing, only making changes when the scope shifted, and they handled adjustments with transparency and good change control practice. Im very happy with EcoStar. Their quality of work, project management, and professionalism were outstanding. Id absolutely hire them again and highly recommend them."

"Noah and Rubi were excellent project managers. We started out with just painting our master bedroom and ended up remodeling all our bathrooms, painting the whole interior, and putting in new flooring. We also replaced the fence and the company was great with making sure it met standards for our HOA. Work crews were on time, worked hard everyday and were respectful. Every change I requested was met with a positive attitude. Final projects are beautiful."
