About Devart8 Builders

DevArt8 Builders designs and builds accessory dwelling units for Bay Area homeowners: detached backyard ADUs, two-story ADUs, garage conversions and junior ADUs (JADUs), as well as home additions and full remodels.

How we work

We start with a visit to your property. You leave with a fixed price in writing, with its exclusions spelled out, and a clear plan for what can be built on your lot. From there, one in-house team takes the project through architectural design, structural engineering, Title 24, the city permit and plan check, utility connections, construction and every inspection. Most of our ADUs take about 4 to 6 months from signed contract to move-in.

"Going to try to do this one justice. We bought a 1950s ranch in Sunnyvale last year, the kind of house that needed everything updated but had really good bones. Spent 6 weeks interviewing contractors. Most of them either talked down to my wife who was running point on the project or seemed not to want the job. Ray at DevArt8 was different from the first phone call. He came out, walked the house with us, asked questions about how we live, and sent us a proposal that actually addressed what wed talked about. Anyway, we hired them and they did the kitchen, three bathrooms, all the flooring, fresh paint, new windows in the front of the house, and a new tankless water heater. About 5 months total. There was one delay when the front windows got back-ordered for like 5 weeks but they worked everything else around it. The home feels like ours now."

They were well-organized from the start, highly responsive, and paid great attention to detail throughout the project. Any construction has small hiccups but the way this team handled was exceptional. There was one instance when the water heater and furnace were not getting gas due to valve shutoff and Joan drove during Christmas day to fix the issues.
